Free Half Fare Travelcard

Thanks to the Half Fare Travelcard, you can travel at half price on all CFF routes, most other railways, as well as boats and postbuses.
You will also receive discounts on bus and metro tickets in many Swiss cities.

This Travelcard is valid for one year, but bound by an open-ended contract. It is automatically renewed upon expiry and loaded onto the SWISSPASS mobility card (more information on the SWISSPASS card: www.sbb.ch or www.swisspass.ch).

You need a SWISSPASS mobility card to obtain the EPFL Half Fare Travelcard.

  • If you do not have the SWISSPASS card

Go to a CFF railway station or the nearest public transport point of sale (point TL at EPFL) with proof of identity and a photo to obtain the SwissPass card free of charge.

You can then request the free EPFL Half Fare Travelcard by emailing your SwissPass card n° (e.g. 012-345-678-9), your date of birth, and your postcode to: [email protected].

The Half Fare Travelcard will be ordered and automatically loaded onto your SWISSPASS card.

You can check the validity of the free EPFL Half Fare Travelcard on your SwissPass.ch account.

  • If you already have a SWISSPASS card

Simply send an email to [email protected] giving your SWISSPASS number (e.g. 012-345-678-9), your date of birth, and your postcode.

The Half Fare Travelcard will be ordered and automatically loaded onto your SwissPass card.

  • If you lost your SWISSPASS card

Please go to the closest CFF or public transport desk (TL desk at EPFL), with your ID to order a copy of your SWISSPASS card which will cost 30.00 CHF

In the event of renewal

The Half-Fare travelcard is renewed automatically.

  • End of rights to a Half Fare Travelcard

The end of the EPFL work contract leads to the suppression of the rights to the Half Fare Travelcard. The pass remains valid until its expiration, but the automatic renewal will be cancelled. The SWISSPASS card remains associated with its owner and should be kept by the employee after their departure.
